Volunteer Experience
In 2011, I competed one month of Care Placement in Hanoi, Vietnam. I worked in a small school with students aged between 4-6 years old, where I was asked to teach them English. Students had limited English-speaking skills but were able to learn the names of various personal items they had either brought to school or already had in the classroom, by matching them to their corresponding English name.I also had the opportunity to complete a 'Under the Sea' mural in the local Paediatric Hospital.
Initially, this proved to be a very daunting experience, living in Vietnam on my own and battling with the language barrier, but it actually turned out to be the catalyst of me commencing my Bachelor of Primary Education and was one of the most rewarding challenges I’ve ever undertaken.
NOTE: Permission granted from Projects Abroad for the photography of the students.
