Integration Aide Experience

“In 2013 Rachel undertook placement work in the prep classrooms, her strong work ethic and determination to make an impact with the children lead her to become employed as a Learning Mentor” – Sarah Birthisel

I became very familiar with the fundamental traits of Prader Willi Syndrome, Verbal Apraxia, Cerebral Palsy and Autism. I felt confident in delivering and following various ILP’s, as well as creating supportive environments so that these students could flourish. I also engaged vigorously with AusVELS but also ABLES when evaluating student academic performance.

In my own tertiary studies, I opted to conduct my own research into Autism Spectrum Disorders and compiled a Wikipedia page highlighting the importance of effective Classroom Management in a special needs classroom.
